The inception of the Birmingham Iron Pigs Lacrosse Club arose from the undeniable need to provide local select players graduating in the class of 2029 with opportunities to hone their skills.
Situated in Birmingham, Alabama, a city with a rich history as the former hub of the world’s largest crude iron manufacturer, our club draws inspiration from the transformative process of refining pig iron. Just as pig iron becomes resilient cast iron through purification and alloy additions, our mission is to mold players across the Birmingham area into a cohesive unit that flourishes and fortifies with each passing year.
Much like the pivotal role pig iron played in laying the foundation for our nation, The Iron Pigs aspires to be a cornerstone in the lacrosse community. Our ultimate goal is to emerge as the premier lacrosse team representing the State of Alabama, forging a legacy of excellence and resilience.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17
Coach Staples and Williams, lacrosse teammates since high school and continuing at Tennessee Wesleyan University, excel as both players and coaches. Their success as coaches includes numerous youth tournament wins and state high school championships. They are the first Black coaches to win a high school state championship in lacrosse. Committed to community service, they provide free coaching clinics for Birmingham Magic Youth Lacrosse and serve as Southern Lacrosse ambassadors, embodying the transition from teammates to mentors, making a lasting impact on the sport and communities they engage with.
I started coaching with Coach Kee'vin in 2014, with U11 Bamalax. Later on, I also started coaching with Coach LaDarius. Both coaches were phenomenal at Vestavia, as they focused on developing and teaching the fundamentals of the game. Moreover, they showed a sincere concern for the players both on and off the field.

Coaches Kee’vin and LaDarius have continuously pushed me and my teammates to become the best players that we can be. They have both taught me so much about playing the game and they’ve also helped me develop into a much better player from when they first started coaching me.

Coach Kee’vin and LaDarius not only made me have a great time playing a great sport but also made me feel like a part of something bigger then myself. As a friend and a coach they have made my lacrosse experience with them unforgettable and very important to me. They not only helped present me with opportunities to get looks from college and put my name out there but also both coaches helped me make a massive jump in skill level.

Kee’vin and LaDarius were huge helps with my lacrosse career and making me the person I am today. They coached me from 7th grade through graduation and the whole time they taught me that If there is a chance you can play and college chase it and you can get there. Without them I don’t believe I would have ever been able to play in college.

These guys are the best you’re going to get when it comes to lacrosse in Alabama. Not only did I turn myself in to a fundamentally much better player because of their help, but I started to see the game from a different point of view. Instead of just playing the game, they taught me to see what was happening in real time and make adjustments on and off ball to score goals.

Coach Kee'vin and Coach LaDarius make the sport of lacrosse fun and enjoyable. The balance between having fun and being serious allowed us to dominate teams while having a great time doing so. Their lacrosse knowledge is unmatched and they spread that IQ to all they coach.

Kee’vin and LaDarius both play pivotal roles as cornerstone members of the Alabama lacrosse community. They both grew up playing in the GBYLA, where they were 2 of the top players in the state. They have since come back from successful collegiate careers to help numerous programs compete for and win state championships. They both push their teams to strive for excellence and are able to get exceptional effort from their players. The Birmingham Iron Pigs Lacrosse Club is in great hands with these coaches.
